As other people, my friends and I made a plan for spring break. It was only a plan. We had another side of us. The week was actually our first internship week at a school who had different schedule for spring break. Being nerveous or excited, making plan, and writing jurnal has been part of the first week. We washed the spring break plan out. The week was like another week of ours.
However, lucky me. I signed up and went to St Patrick parade on Moday and first ladies museum on Wednesday.
The entire afternoon around the parade was interesting moment. We travel by van to Van Aken, then by train to cleveland down town tower. Loud crowd that sounded by drunk, crazy, and excited young people welcomed us. "Welcome to America!" one said. Before, during and after parade, my attention was at the young people. They are very different from young people in my country. I sensed the pure freedom on them. Nothing else but themselve that seemed to exist nor rule nor anything that drive one's attitude. A teenager female used the crowded sidewalk as restroom as if nobody was there, a young girl yelled excitingly when being arrested by security. Not all of the young people were crazy, though. The parade was great but I could not stand longer because it was too cold.
The wednesday visit to first ladies museum was a different one. The tour guide ladies were wonderful. Beside the information, I really like the way they speak. The words, speed, intonation and expressions were amazing to me. I regret that I did not recorded them. Not surprisingly they were retired teachers. The museum has stories, pictures and collection of all the wifes of USA presidents from Mrs. washington to Mrs. Bush. They also told us the story of the museum and the building which used to be the house of one of the first lady.
The friday of the week was surprising. I went to unplanned tour. The morning I had to be ready for a tour with the group, my advisor called me. I was happy because he had been recovered and offered me to go on a trip to cleveland. So I decided to go with him. We had interesting talks during the trip. We visited museum of arts to see the armor exibition which was really interesting. I had seen armors on the cartoon before but this time was real armors. All collection described what the world was like during the timeline of the their development. I had a nice cup of coffee at the museum cafetaria. Then we went to cleveland clinic for his business. He gave me time to learn about the clinic. On the way back to Kent we stopped at a mongolian restaurant where I enjoyed the buffet. We expected to have horse meet, but then I only have the scalp and shrimp.
The saturday of the week was amazing. My host parents took us to bowling which I had never done before. Surprisingly, my first try hit all the targets which I repeated in the fifth and sixth turns. My second and next tries hit most of the target. They asked me several time if it was my first time. It was, even touching the ball. It made me sure that I am a pure kinesthetic learner. I remember how people did it on TV, I adjusted my mind and move to fit, then I did it. I won the two games among six of us. After the bowling we had a wonderful pizza dinner, interesting talks and fun time with a family (Mr and Mrs Church) who were friends of my host parents (Mr. and Mrs. Browsky).
It was a great broken spring. Thank you people. I have seen America.
